Here are the photos of an entirely custom designed six string guitar being built. It is loosely based on a Gibson 335, but rather than being a traditional hollow body design, this one was built as a solid body instrument which was then hollowed out. This will allow for a distinctive chamfer on the top of the body, that should also make the instrument more comfortable to play for extended periods of time.
To balance out the warmth of the body design, the instrument has been made from hand picked maple, which will help bring a brightness to the sound. The result is a uniquely rich, yet defined sound.
Distinctive use of purple heart on the frets and lamination in the body will provide a stunning spot to the otherwise gentle blonde wood.
Come back next month to see the photographs of the final instrument.
